Using Ottoin.

What Ottoin is

Ottoin is a record of what cars cost to own in India, built from bills that owners report and from figures manufacturers publish. It exists to answer one question: what should this service cost, and does the quote in your hand look like what other people paid.

What the figures mean, and what they do not

Owner figures are owner-reported. We do not audit them against a workshop, and we never call them verified. Every statistic on the site carries the number of cars behind it so you can judge it yourself — below five reports we show the individual bills and no median at all.

Manufacturer figures are what a manufacturer publishes for a scheduled service. They are a reference line, not a price you will be charged, and each links to the page it was read from.

Nothing here is a quotation, an offer, or a guarantee of price. A workshop can legitimately charge more than others paid — different work, different city, different year, a part that failed. If a figure here differs from your bill, that is information, not proof of anything.

Not professional advice

Ottoin does not tell you whether a repair is necessary, safe to defer, or correctly done. Where we show that an item was not in the manufacturer’s schedule for an interval, that is a statement about the schedule and not a judgement about the work. Decisions about your car are between you and a qualified mechanic.

What you contribute

Your bills and photos remain yours. By adding them you give us permission to show them on your car page and to include their figures in the aggregates other owners see. You can delete them, and the aggregates recompute without them.

By adding something you are confirming that:

  • ·It is your car, or you have the owner's permission.
  • ·The figures are what the bill actually says.
  • ·You are not uploading someone else's personal documents.

Do not upload anything containing another person’s details, and do not enter figures you have invented. A fabricated bill corrupts a number that a stranger will rely on.

Workshops, dealers and manufacturers

Nobody can pay to change what a number says, or to be shown beside one. There is no paid placement in any aggregate on this site — not labelled, not as a trial, not ever. We do not rank workshops, endorse them, or accept payment for a mention.

If you are a workshop or manufacturer and believe a figure attributed to you is wrong, write to us and we will look at the underlying bill.

Your account

You are responsible for the email address you sign in with. Tell us if you think someone else has access to it.

We may remove content that is fabricated, that contains someone else’s personal data, or that is posted to promote a business. We will tell you why.

Availability and liability

Ottoin is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available, complete, or free of errors, and figures may be wrong — they come from people and from manufacturers’ own pages, both of which make mistakes.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for money you spend or save, or for decisions you take, on the basis of anything shown here. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction.

Changes

We will date this page when it changes and tell account holders about significant changes by email.
